Who We Are

Founded as a small family business in 1973, Pacific Southwest Container, LLC started with one factory serving local businesses in Modesto, California. Three generations later, we have grown to be one of the largest privately held packaging companies in the United States. With more than 1,000 team members and four locations, we create packaging that ranges from high-volume to high-touch, from standard to sophisticated. Our history of bringing capabilities and services in-house allows us to provide unmatched quality and speed to market. We remain committed to investing in innovation, our people, and our craft.

Packaging is a craft; one we’ve mastered over four and a half decades. Our heritage, experience, and willingness to invest in our customers are why some of the world’s largest brands trust PSC to solve their most complex packaging challenges. It’s also why many of the local businesses who were with us at the start are still with us today.

At PSC, we know that thriving in our industry takes more than machines. It takes a focused group of women and men who are dedicated to our values: 360˚ Health, Teamwork, Quality, and Sustainability. That’s why you’ll hear us refer to each other as team members, not coworkers or employees. We also believe that’s why we’ve grown from a small plant in the Central Valley of California to one of the largest and fastest growing independent packaging companies in North America. We remain excited about where we are headed and proud of the teamwork that has elevated us to where we are today.

Our Values

360 ̊ HEALTH

As a family business, caring for one another is part of our mission. Creating a culture of 360-degree health means valuing and investing in the physical safety, as well as the physical and mental health, of our team.

At PSC we have team members, not employees. Working together as a team, towards a common goal, allows us to reach heights that are greater than what we could achieve alone. This requires trust, respect, healthy debate, and accountability.

We believe in fostering a culture of quality. This starts with hiring high-quality team members who demonstrate integrity, humility, and grit. Next, it requires investing in high-quality and innovative equipment while maintaining world-class systems and processes. The result is packaging that sets the bar for quality.

We recognize our responsibility to grow, adapt, and evolve for future generations. We do this by focusing on the sustainability of our team, business, and environment. We invest in the personal and professional growth of our team members through training, development, and education programs. We continuously invest in new technologies, equipment, and practices so that we can go where our customers grow. Lastly, we make decisions today, and set goals for the future, to minimize our impact on the planet.

The business landscape is evolving, and so are consumer behaviors. Adapting to these changes can be difficult and complex. Our customers often face challenges in response to pressures from technology and globalization, leading to changes in their processes, costs, scale, and production. Drawing from over 50 years of experience, we know that addressing these packaging challenges requires open collaboration and innovation. We see these challenges as an opportunity for an immersive brand interaction that enhances our customers’ valued products.

Our ongoing mission at PSC is to be more than just a box™, which consists of 3 critical components:

  1. Be the best manufacturing company to work for. By creating a culture of servant leadership and investing in the 360° Health & development of our team members, we will be more than just an employer.
  2. Be the best manufacturing company to work with. By continuously investing in quality, innovation, and sustainability, we will be more than just a supplier.
  3. Be a force for good. By supporting local educational and charitable organizations that align with our values, we will be more than just a corporation.

Join Team PSC and discover the difference for yourself.

We believe that a commitment to sustainable manufacturing requires more than just words. That’s why we have gone the extra mile to ensure that all of our facilities are ISO 14001:2015 certified with effective Environmental Management Systems, as well as Chain-of-Custody certified.

We are dedicated to reducing our impact on the environment by reusing material within the paper and packaging industry. That’s why we have made the investment in machinery and systems to be able to recycle 100% of our paper waste, amounting to tons of scrap paper turned back into boxes. We have also instituted best practices that allow us to reduce our VOC emission under industry allowance, and our team of structural designers are experts at reducing material by improving design.

Since our founding, PSC has worked to give back to the community we serve. We partner with a local organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for and self-sufficiency of children and adults with disabilities. We have helped develop the largest closet of adaptive equipment in Stanislaus County and support a wide range of special needs programs, including job training, that reach over 34,000 individuals across our community.

Our team members are at the heart of our success and we will never lose sight of that. We believe that investing in a child’s future benefits not only our PSC community, but the broader community as a whole. That is why we established the Donald & Lois Mayol Scholarship fund, which provides annual scholarships to support the higher education of our team members’ children. As Nelson Mandela said, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.”
